Peebles Manse was for some time, home to Rev. Dr. John Lee. After his death in 1859-00-00, the manse was renamed Lee Lodge in his honour. It subsequently became the Lee Lodge Hotel and then the Riverside Hotel. Ultimately, the building was demolished and a new sheltered housing development, Riverside House, now occupies the site.
