Inaugural Meeting, 1823 January 31st
It had often been spoken of and attempted to institute a meeting of those born in Peebles once annually, but could never be attained until this evening. They met in the house of William Robertson, Old Town, he being the only Peeblean born in Peebles.
There were present:

- John Brown Stockingmaker
- Alex Dickson Carter
- James Kiddie Merchant
- John Dickson Dyer

- William Robertson Innkeeper
- William Turnbull Baker
- James Turnbull Wright
- James Kerr Barber
- George Dickson Shoemaker
- Alex Scott Tailor
Francis Neilson was elected Presis and Alex Brunton Clerk.
It was resolved to meet next year on the last Friday of January in William Robertson’s and none to be invited but those born in Peebles or true Guttar Blood.
The meeting appointed a committee to arrange the business for next year of the following members viz:

- Alex Brunton
- William Thomson
- James Spalding
- Lieut. A Vietch
- James Keddie
